myHD not working after doing a cleanup of junk files

Post by Hslansky » Thu Sep 20, 2018 3:43 am

Philippe,
I was trying to free up unused space on my NAS so I had QNAP do a "Clean Up Junk Files" through QBoost. This appears to have deleted the .myHD directory and as a result myHD no longer functions properly. In addition, I am unable to successfully uninstall or re-install myHD. What additional information will you require in order to try and resolve this issue.

FYI, no data was lost as a result of this issue.

Whaoo! ... I will run my own test BUT please can you provide me : (adapt CACHEDEV1 to your own path)
ls -ali of /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg
ls -ali of /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/myHD

what is the error when you unstall myHD (I presume it's due to an error when myHD stop shell is called (not sure)
please provide result :
grep -A 15 "\[myHD" /etc/config/qpkg.conf

Philippe,
I was able to re-create the problem and the logs are below, everything was done via the console. Only big issue is this time I did lose ALL of my data even though I did remove the entry for from the include list before starting the uninstall. Luckily I have a backup. Hope this helps with resolving the problem.

I have reproduce the problem ...
It's a surprise, but QNAP don't provide the list of files deleted... and the rules ... so only QNAP and QNAP's support can know it ...
Also the size displayed don't indicate the real size (109 Mo in my system when Gigabytes are destroy by Qboost ... )

My first test seem to attache the problem to the position of .myHD folder ... so I can suggest you to (don't use Qboost) ... to MOVE this folder to a safer (I hope) place and create a link ... the link can be destroyed BUT not the folder
so when installed AND myHD STOPPED do
cd $(dirname $(getcfg myHD install_path -f /etc/config/qpkg.conf))
mv .myHD ../
ln -s ../.myHD

NOW in case of use of Qboost for deleting junk files ... only the link is broken ... recreate it (command 1 and 3) (even myHD running but without application launched ...
